From the FLORA collection:
In this collection, I delve into the intricate relationship between nature and the human experience, using the forms of trees, leaves, and flora as abstract symbols of memory and emotion. My intention is not only to depict the beauty of these elements, but to evoke the intangible feelings and memories they bring up within us. Through layered textures, fluid shapes, and an interplay of colors, I aim to create a visual language that speaks to the soul, inviting viewers to reflect on their own personal connections to the natural world.
These paintings are an exploration of the profound sense of comfort and emotional connection that I experience through the presence of trees, leaves, and plants. As I travel across diverse landscapes—from lush jungles to serene forests and arid deserts—I am continually drawn to the protective embrace that flora offers. These natural elements act as a living shield, a comforting barrier that grounds me in the vastness of the world. Each piece in this series captures the unique blend of emotions that different environments evoke—feelings of safety, discovery, nostalgia, and peace.
The merging of abstract and representation allows each piece to serve as a mirror, reflecting the viewer's own emotions and memories. The forms are intended to evoke memory, while maintaining abstraction as to not isolate the work as a specific place in time. Combining elements from different climates that wouldn’t exist together naturally, or using unexpected colors for trees and plants- allows the viewer to relate to the work in their own way.
This collection is a meditation on the cyclical nature of life, the enduring presence of flora in our lives, and the emotional landscapes we carry within us. By abstracting these organic forms, I hope to capture not just the essence of trees and plants, but the way they live in our memories and continue to shape our inner worlds.
